So, what’s happened since my last blog post in 2021? Wow—almost exactly four years ago!

Much of our time has been devoted to our home in New Mexico. Between essential repairs and ongoing updates, it’s been a labor of love to keep the

house in good condition. We’ve tackled landscaping, interior improvements, and—as is always the case—just as one project wraps up, a few more pop up! I’ve genuinely enjoyed all of it and continue to find joy in shaping this house into a warm and welcoming home.

Many months ago, I made the decision to step down as President of CMA2. Dawn Mendelson has stepped into the role, and it’s been so gratifying to see the organization continue to grow, evolve, and offer mosaic artists a vibrant, supportive community.

These past four years have also included some wonderful travel—road trips around New Mexico and Colorado, visits with family in California, and even a few journeys abroad.

My most recent solo adventure was to Scotland. I attended a workshop in Falkirk with instructor Mieke Ceusters. The class was hosted by Rhona Duffy of

Mosaic and Glass Magazine in her beautiful new studio. After many years of correspondence, it was a joy to finally meet her in person. I also reached out to mosaic artist Helen Miles, whose work I’ve long admired, and was thrilled to meet her as well. There’s something truly special about connecting face to face with people you’ve known from afar.

It was equally wonderful to share the workshop experience with CMA2 friends Jacqui Ross, Kate Hanley, and other talented students.

I had a few solo days before and after the workshop to explore Edinburgh—treating myself to a massage, enjoying some incredible food, and sipping (more than once!) a fine Oban whisky. Traveling alone, eating alone, hauling luggage alone… it gave me time to reflect. I suppose, in some ways, I was reflecting on being alone.

Now that I’m back home, spring is in full bloom and summer is already starting to make an appearance. The landscaping is waking up beautifully, flowers are blooming, and we have a few fun summer trips on the horizon—to Colorado and California.

I'd love to hear what you've been up to these past few years—drop a note in the comments!
